My Story

My Story

Where threads become family treasures

My love for crochet is rooted in a long line of family tradition, growing with me from childhood into adulthood, gathering inspiration along the way. As a little girl, I would watch my grandmother, wholly absorbed amongst her sewing machines, needles, hooks, and fabrics, creating small treasures that told the quiet stories of our family.
As I grew up, I studied and worked in the United Kingdom as an au pair, surrounded by the quiet, homely creativity of my “English mum” Susan and her daughter — the two of them spending long hours together knitting and sewing. Later, I was welcomed into my husband’s family and discovered a forty-year- long artisan tradition of their own.
To me, a handcrafted crochet piece is the shape of something intimate and personal — a way to hold a memory, or honour a special moment shared with someone dear.
That’s why I created Dafne’s Tales: to turn this passion into a project that could move people by bringing emotions and beauty to the most cherished and meaningful moments — weddings, christenings, and the moments we keep close to our hearts.

Nel 2016 ho fondato Dafne's Tales per unire la mia passione per l'arte dell'uncinetto con il desiderio di creare accessori unici per eventi speciali. Ogni pezzo che realizzo è pensato per essere un ricordo prezioso, che dura nel tempo: non un semplice accessorio per un solo giorno, ma un oggetto dal valore emotivo che diventi parte della quotidianità e della tradizione familiare. Ogni articolo è pensato per essere tramandato, diventando un cimelio di famiglia che conserva ricordi felici.

My Creative Process

My Creative Process

Each creation by Dafne’s Tales emerges from a dialogue between tradition and innovation.

I carefully select natural, high-quality materials — cotton lace, linen and silk threads, hemp yarns, tulle, wood — materials chosen not only for their beauty and delicacy, but also for their enduring charm over time.
One of my favourite stages in the creative process is designing the piece and drawing the initial sketch: the moment when a memory, a feeling, a story begins to take form on paper. Choosing colours, balancing textures, exploring the play of transparency and light — this is where each piece is patiently imagined before it comes to life.
